A Non Whiny Post

My sugars have been SOO beautiful lately. I thought I should mention that, since it seems like I'm just on this blog when things are going badly, and I'm whining a lot. But really, the control has been so easy, and I'm grateful. I have another a1c next weekend, in Utah, as part of the study, so we'll see.

In other news, my neck hurts, like, really a lot. So I've started seeing a chiropractor, which is new. (Great! Another medical professional!) I hope he's not crazy. So far, he seems to be fine, but the second he tells me he can cure my diabetes with raw foods or supplements, I'm out of there. He took an x-ray, and he told me a couple of vertebrae in my neck are twisted - which seems to be something chiropractors say, according to Google. Maybe they are twisted, I don't know. So basically, I'm seeing if it helps, and if it does, great, if not - I'll stop going. Done and done.

The insurance covers it, so it's not out of pocket. Yes, you can blame me for high health care costs. I have become a far more expensive person to keep alive in the past couple of years. If he doesn't help, I guess I go to my primary care and complain of "neck pain." I've heard they love vague symptoms like that.

School starts on Monday (yes! Freedom!) and come Tuesday I'll hit the dentist, the eye doctor, and the chiro. Friday it's the study and the a1c. You know, it seems like this body needs more maintenance than my car and my house put together.

In conclusion, I love Crystal Light popsicles. They make summertime in Arizona a livable place for diabetics.

  1. I'll have to try those Crystal Light popsicles - we live on the sugar free icepix around here.

RE: Chiropractic Care - Do I ever have a crazy story for you. I was once the biggest chiropractic skeptic out there! But, after baby #2 came out screaming and continued for 4 solid months, I was willing to try ANYTHING! Desperation kicked in. Pediatrician said it was just her personality - gee thanks! I was still not willing to take her to a "manual" adjusting chiropractor, so went to a chiro with the pro-adjuster - awesome machine! No lie - she came out of there a different baby. I would never have believed it had I not seen it with my own eyes, and had I not enjoyed a peaceful next day where the child actually napped w/o screaming herself to sleep for 30 minutes AND rode in her car seat w/o the extreme screech we were so used to! I honestly wondered who this baby was and what that chiro had done with mine! Story is much more intense, complicated, and longer, but hey, this is blog world so... So am I a complete chiropractic freak? - absolutely not - it doesn't cure everything, but after my experience, I'm much more willing to look outside the box when it comes to medical options. Does your chiro use the pro adjuster? If not, you may want to try it - much more scientifically accurate! For more info and a list of chiros who use it go to http://www.proadjusterlifestyle.com/. I can refer you to my Tucson chiro if you'd like. I absolutely LOVE her! Happy doc visiting next week!

  2. That's a great story. I would love to talk to you about it sometime. What made you think to go to a chiro?

He does use the proadjsuter - I like it quite a bit. I didn't know that's what it was called, but it sounded like what you were talking about, so I looked, and yep, he's on the list on that website.

  3. My mother in law has always gone to one. When she was in his office one day, she started telling him about how sorry she felt for me because of this "horrible" baby I had. He asked her to talk to me about chiropractic to which she gawfed, but like I said I was desperate. We happened to be heading up there (Wyoming) for Christmas that year, and because he is a long time family friend, he offered to take a look at her and with my permission adjust her without charging. So, skeptical as I was, I figured I'd go watch him adjust the MIL first, and then I'd make my decision. Obviously after watching the pro adjuster, I felt pretty comfortable, and he seemed to really know what he was talking about. He felt her neck, and his eyes got big. Of course, I'm thinking, "WHAT!!!!" He had me feel and said that what I was feeling was NOT normal. So he adjusted her and had me feel the difference. It wasn't what I felt though, it was her behavior afterwards! Seriously - INSANE!
